What Are Chakras, the meaning, location, and how to unblock them?

In Sanskrit, the word “chakra” means “disk” or “wheel” and refers to the energy centres in your body. These wheels or disks of spinning energy each correspond to certain nerve bundles and major organs. To function at their best, your chakras need to stay open, or balanced.

In this series of 7 immersive sound baths we will focus each week on one of the seven major chakras beginning with the “root” or “base” chakra – working our way up to the “crown”chakra.

  • Journey through the chakra’s – immersive sound bath experience will help you learn the tools and knowledge to form an important part of holistic wellbeing:
  • Become grounded and feel at peace within your body
  • Feel connected with your creativity, your emotions, your sexuality and your relationships
  • Activate yourself to be empowered, confident and purposeful
  • Learn to love and accept yourself and connect with your heart’s desires and needs
  • Improve your communication, to express your truth, feel your worth, and set your boundaries
  • See your Higher Self as your Guide, and connect with your intuition
  • Connect with the spiritual side of your life, finding deeper meaning in all that you do

This Sound Bath is a deeply-imersive experience that intentionally uses sound to nurture your mind and body. This experience begins with each person seated in a chair for gentle meditation and using sacred voice to activate the chakra. Following this you will be guided to lay down on your yoga mat in a comfortable position, with your blanket, cushions, maybe an eye mask. After a few minutes of guided focus on the breath, the remainder of the experience is filled with different sounds and frequencies being introduced in succession. The sounds are created by a variety of overtone-emitting instruments including Tibetan bowls, tuning forks, gongs, shruti box, Himalayan and crystal singing bowls, chimes, percussion and voice.
